Young people in a university class

We run caring contact programs for colleges, universities, and K-12 schools.

A quarter of enrolled college students (27%) leave school because they struggle with mental health issues. We help those students, which keeps them in school.

Advisors, retention specialists, counselors, etc., use our tool to keep their students healthier.

Listen to Phil DeCico explain more.

How we help students stay healthy while boosting retention rates:

Sign-up
Advisors upload their students’
mobile numbers. We get all opt-in
permissions and run caring
contacts with those students.
We text students 1 relevant
wellness question bi-weekly.
Texting is universal. It
engages the most students.
Students text back a self-score
on any of 50 topics. Self-scores
trigger support protocols and
follow-up referrals.
Advisors get bi-weekly reports. In
just 10 minutes, all their covered
students can get quality support
for issues they struggle with.

Why Everyone Loves Student CaringContacts:

Studies show ¼ of all students leave school due to mental health issues.

Students who struggle need support or they are likely to leave school. We deliver that support, without expensive counseling staff, and keep them in school.

We help retain more students.

Identify a retention risk group and we start to identify which student is struggling with issues. We then give them appropriate support for their issue and refer any acute cases to a counseling resource.

“We started using this tool to support our student’s mental health. We quickly adopted the tool to help us strengthen our school’s overall culture and climate. We’re very happy with the results!”

We can cover retention-risk student groups, or 100% of your enrolled students.

By keeping students healthy and safe, we improve retention rates and academic performance.

Students get the help and care they need with an issue. That improves their lives!

We do caring contacts every 2-weeks across a wide variety of student issues.
We gather student responses, provide age-appropriate support, and refer acute cases.

We engage students on 50+ topics, including depression and anxiety. Counselors/Advisors have complete control over everything.

About Us:

Our Story

Brian and Tabbatha Lawe lost their beloved nephew, Stevie, to suicide. They turned their grief into action and created a family foundation to help K-12 and college students stay mentally healthy and improve SEL skills.

After interviewing hundreds of college and K-12 principals, administrators, and school counselors, they began focusing on school culture and climate.

It was a big challenge; one their foundation could not handle alone. They got tremendous support from the Kopp Family Foundation , and the nonprofit Ave Maria Community Corporation. A BIG thank you to both!

We are NOT a for-profit organization. We are a Public Benefits company called HopeCheck Org LLC from Ave Maria, FL. Our team of 12 people run StudentCaringContacts.org. Our school support team is led by Michelle Atkins, our technical team is led by Cris Blanco, and our business operations team is led by Brian Lawe. Please use our service. We want to help students!
