Young people in a university class

We run caring contact programs for colleges, universities, and K-12 schools.

A quarter of enrolled college students (27%) leave school because they struggle with mental health issues. We help those students, which keeps them in school.

How we help students stay healthy while boosting retention rates:

Sign-up
Advisors upload their students’
mobile numbers. We get all opt-in
permissions and run caring
contacts with those students.
We text students 1 relevant
wellness question bi-weekly.
Texting is universal. It
engages the most students.
Students text back a self-score
on any of 50 topics. Self-scores
trigger support protocols and
follow-up referrals.
Advisors get bi-weekly reports. In
just 10 minutes, all their covered
students can get quality support
for issues they struggle with.
Detailed student documentation

We have 40+ plans, like those above, for principals to use when bad things happen.

These are some of the 40+ ready-to-go plans our subscribing principals use.
We have a plan available for every issue that can harm a school’s reputation and culture.

Our Story

Brian and Tabbatha Lawe lost their beloved nephew, Stevie, to suicide. That event was devastating to their extended family, to Stevie’s school, and to the broader local community. The Lawes turned their grief into action and created a family foundation to help K-12 and college students stay mentally healthy and improve SEL skills. Prevention is everything in this space.

After interviewing hundreds of college and K-12 principals, administrators, and school counselors, the Lawes began focusing on restoring school culture and climate issues. Their focus became preventing repeating issues and stopping issues overwhelming the school.

It was a big challenge; one their foundation could not handle alone. They got tremendous support from the Kopp Family Foundation , and the nonprofit Ave Maria Community Corporation. A BIG thank you to both!

We are NOT a for-profit organization. We are a Public Benefits Public Benefits company called HopeCheck Org LLC from Ave Maria, FL. Our team of 12 people run StudentCaringContacts.org. Our school support team is led by Michelle Atkins, our technical team is led by Cris Blanco, and our business operations team is led by Brian Lawe. Please use our service. We want to help students
